There are many ways in which the government can help and assist a community to make the lives of the community member a bit better and more comfortable.
HOW CAN THE GOVERNMENT HELP AND ASSIST THE COMMUNITY?
One of the ways in which the government can improve the lives of people in the community is by using a social service model to do so.
IS THE APPROACH OF JOURNEY TO HOUSING A SOCIAL SERVICE OR COMMUNITY BUILDING MODEL?
The approach of journey to housing is a social service model that benefits and provides facilities to community members, such as education, food subsidies, health care and subsidized housing provided by the government to improve the life and living conditions of the children, disabled, the elderly and the poor in the community.
WHAT AIMS OR FOCUSES WERE INVOLVED IN THE HOUSING PROJECT OF RAVENSMEAD?
The members of the community are going to benefit by the facility that is provided by the government, which is the building of housing in Ravensmead. Not only did the government focus on what the community needed, it included the community members, to ensure that they received not only what they need but also what they want.
The focus of the project was also on individuals themselves because it depends on every resident to help ensure that the particular construction project remains on track and that delivery targets are being met.
The project will provide water connection points, infrastructure and roads in the Ravensmead park area. There will be 51 erven on site, however, only 38 families will benefit. What is important is the provision of the erven and people, especially adult children will benefit from the site. Every family will be able to benefit from basic services.
The building of the houses will be of top structure that meets green building technology requirements using recyclable material and cement that minimises the impact on the environment. The project is also aimed to sustain sources for the future. Not only houses will be built, but they will be echo-friendly which will not only benefit the members, but also the next generation.
In conclusion, the social services model is predominantly needs based, as it attends to needs of the community by responding to problems faced by people. The major goal is also offering services to the community.
Thus the social services model reflects fully in the article of JOURNEY TO HOUSING, by focusing on individual’s needs, responding to problems and to make services a goal.
